(6/2022) The East Bench vines have now eclipsed 20 years of age and the depth of the resulting wine continues to ascend. As the iron-rich, red soiled vineyard is adjacent to Lytton Springs, it is no surprise that this wine is so darn good and powerful. Dusty black cherry, blackberry, fresh black plum, sage, pan drippings, raspberry, peach and vanilla cascade across a well-structured, harmonious palate. Pour this blind in a Cabernet or Bordeaux flight and the discussion may surprise you. It grows with aeration, so in its youth you'll want to allow an hour or more in your decanter - our sample shined brightest on day two! Enjoy over the next six years.
