(9/2024) The Pedroncelli "Sonoma Classico" is an old-school blend made the way Sonoma reds used to be, combining Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese, Tinta Madeira, and Souzao, all from the family's estate vineyards in Dry Creek Valley. Raised in American oak barrels (30% new), this deliciously plush and bright red boasts juicy and peppery aromas and flavors of plum, black cherry, and bright raspberry. With a full, lifted, and fresh mouthfeel, it drinks like a California/Rhone/Tuscany mash-up. This fun wine impressed us with its sophisticated structure, length, and layered deliciousness. We can't say enough about this yummy red, and we suggest having it with grilled BBQ chicken thighs, chicken Parm, or a spicy penne arrabbiata.
