After tasting this wine at the Domaine, we immediately contacted the importer and asked for all 120 bottles slated for the American market. We were told we could have 12 bottles and, after much prodding, we've managed to get a wee bit more of this stunning wine!
(11/2023) The five-hectare Premier Cru "Les Pucelles" vineyard abuts the Grand Cru sites of Batard Montrachet and Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. Owners of Les Pucelles include iconic names like Leflaive, Boillot and Paul Pernot. Cellier Aux Moines purchased a 0.7-hectare parcel in 2012. Profound, with a seductive attack of pleasure, it is the pinnacle of what modern White Burgundy can be. This layered, uber-delicious white aged in just two barrels - a new one of 228 liters and a used 400-liter barrel. Exuding primary fruit, minerality and oak that will develop effortlessly, it is a staggering accomplishment. As tempting as it will be to drink right away, this profound white should sit for another 2 to 3 years and will evolve beautifully for two decades. This impressive wine from an under-the-radar producer nabbed our highest score for a Burgundy ever.
