(11/2022) This reminds us of early-90s Napa, when Cabs weren't just about fruit, polish and "managed tannins." This sophisticated blend of 90% Sorenson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec is raised for 22 months in French oak, 85% neutral and 15% new. Rough-and-tumble Cab, with dusty earth, green herb and tobacco wrapper gustiness that you can really sink your teeth into. With an hour or two in a big decanter, this really opens up, revealing cassis, blackberry and plum flavors and delicate notes of sandalwood, black tea, cedar and wet leaves. A six-year-old wine, that's great now but will reach peak in another two to three years - developing beautifully for another decade.
